Since the pandemic started, Florida shattered the single-day records – on Thursday, 10,000 new coronavirus cases reported.
Outbreaks in Texas, Florida, California, and Arizona have helped the United States break records, rising cases not seen since April.
In June alone, Florida infections rose by 168% – more than 95,000 new cases; the rate of positive tests were 4% at the end of May, and now, skyrocketed to 15%.
Florida, having the population of 21 million, has reported more new daily cases than any European country.
To contain the outbreak, the governor banned bars and beaches but requiring masks statewide and reimposition of lockdown.
Only one other state – New York – recorded 12,847, that is more than 10,000 new cases in a single day; after a strict lockdown of three weeks, the rate of new cases in NY rise by about 6% in June – the lowest rate in the country.
