In a gun and grenade attack, security forces killed terrorists who attempted to barge into the Pakistan Stock Exchange compound in Karachi.

According to police, one sub-inspector and two security guards were martyred, and seven were injured – including three police officials.

Reportedly, four attackers, armed with automatic rifles and grenades, launched an attack and attempted to enter the PSX compound, somewhere before 10m this morning.

Fortunately, police and Rangers officials arrived at the scene right after the attack and killed all attackers; a clearance operation was held later.

Police also reported that hand grenades, advanced weaponry, and some other explosive material were recovered from the terrorists’ custody. Bomb Disposal officials also arrived at the scene to attack and scoured the site; they also identified the “suspected car” parked outside PSX.

Additional inspector general, Karachi, directed to strengthen the security of all trading centers and important offices of the city.

One of the police surgeons, Dr Qarar Ahmed Abbasi, informed that seven dead bodies and seven injured, including police officers, brought at the Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi.

Rizwan Ahmed, another police officer at the scene, said that food supplies were also found on the bodies of the gunmen, indicating that they have planned a long siege.

At the time of the attack, broker Yaqub Memon and some others were huddled inside their offices while the attack was underway.
