The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) operating theatre and the Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) in the Children’s Hospital was sealed yesterday after 15 staffers from both facilities met with Covid-19.
Reportedly, before sealing the facilities, 30 patients who were admitted to MCH were discharged with suggestions to visit other hospitals, while three critical cases were sent to Capital Hospital.
Dr Ansar Maxood, Pims Executive Director said that the facilities were sealed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the hospital. According to him, the MCH will be closed for eight days and the operating theatre for three to four days, in the meanwhile, they will be completely disinfected; once disinfected, and the facilities will resume their operations.
According to an MCH doctor, she had Covid-19 symptoms for the last three days but had to work despite staff requests to seal the facility.
Dr Maxood informed that two doctors, three staffers from the MCH, and 10 other employees have tested positive for Covid-19.
In the meanwhile, a video of PIMs doctor got viral, in which she revealed the fact that a doctor from her batch tested positive three days ago.
“I have had symptoms for the last three days but was continuously performing duties, as the management did not heed our request to seal the MCH and begin contact tracing.”
“No one bothered to give me a room, despite saying that am one of the hospital’s doctors and should be admitted on a priority basis. I spoke to the executive director and he said he was trying to locate room for me. I finally decided to record a video so that I am provided a room,” she said.
To restrict the further spread to her son and elderly father, she quarantined herself in a room that doesn’t even have a toilet.
later on, she has moved to a private hospital.
